A Letter from Kate & Freddi

We were blown away by the massive turnout at our market’s Grand Opening on Friday! The love and support that gathered on top of the hill totally surpassed our expectations and our vendors are all very excited to come back.

Although we were thrilled so many people from all over the city came to celebrate our opening, it also caused some parking difficulties. We have done a lot of work this week to make adjustments and changes so that we can improve the parking experience for everyone and ensure that we are being respectful to our neighbors so this market can thrive long term.

We want to give you a quick peek under the hood of the market so you understand our decisions. We are a small team and we have been donating our time for almost a year working tirelessly to create a market that will be an asset to the community for years to come. The Farmers Market is a non-profit operation - the vendor fees barely cover basic operating costs. In order to improve parking, we need outside help and customer contribution.  

One solution is to hire a professional parking company who will work as a team to help us maximize the available parking at the Community Center. We are going to try out a professional parking company on Friday, March 8th. In order to afford this professional assistance, we need to charge $5 per car to park - cash or card accepted. Please bear with us as we try this solution. We hope that this will alleviate the concerns we have heard from residents who have difficulty walking up and down the Community Center driveway. Customers may still park for free on Topanga Canyon Blvd, but PLEASE be respectful of our neighbors, don’t block driveways, and park with all four wheels on the other side of the white line. 

We ask that the canyon community join us in this problem solving experiment with open minds - we’re doing the best we can. Change might not happen overnight, but we are working on it. Thanks for your patience and continued support.
